Oral health is a critical component of whole-body wellness. Periodontal disease is one of the most common medical conditions in dogs and cats, and left untreated, it can contribute to chronic pain, systemic inflammation, and secondary effects on the heart, liver, and kidneys. Because dental disease often progresses silently, proactive and thorough care is essential.

Every dental procedure in our hospital is performed as a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) under general anesthesia. This allows for a complete evaluation of the teeth, gingiva, and oral structures both above and below the gumline, where the majority of disease occurs. Full-mouth dental radiographs are obtained to assess root health, bone integrity, and pathology that cannot be visualized during an awake exam. Ultrasonic scaling removes tartar above and below the gum line, followed by polishing to smooth the enamel. A detailed record of each tooth’s health status is created to guide treatments. In select cases, we apply dental sealants to help protect enamel surfaces and reduce plaque adherence as part of a preventive care strategy. When indicated, surgical extraction is needed to remove diseased or painful teeth. We implement meticulous technique and advanced multimodal pain management protocols.

Our goal is not simply to clean teeth, but to restore and maintain oral health in a way that improves comfort, protects systemic wellness, and enhances long-term quality of life.
